16th Annual Privateer Festival

Centuries ago, patriotic citizens sailed from the Fell’s Point port to assist our young nation’s war effort against the British in the War of 1812.   These “privateers” were legally sanctioned by the US government to disrupt British trade and deter England’s eagerness for war.   These brave privateers were the forerunners of the US Navy Reserve and are honored annually at the Fell’s Point Privateer Festival.

Come celebrate Baltimore’s maritime prowess with an educational land invasion of living history.  This free festival features historic ships, reenactors, interactive demonstrations, comedic skits and tours.  A special area for kids will feature craft activities, a parrot display & living mermaids.  Festival goers will enjoy live music, maritime merchant booths & a bounty of food and drink selection including grog & some tasty grub.  Stroll through this charming 17 th century town with 62 retail shops and over 100 restaurants.
