Sagamore Pendry Baltimore wins over Condé Nast Traveler readers

The Sagamore Pendry Baltimore in Baltimore’s Fells Point neighborhood grabbed the No. 1 spot on Condé Nast Traveler’s Best Hotels in the U.S.
Condé Nast Traveler said it received a record-breaking number of responses from nearly a half a million readers who rated their travel experiences at hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise lines, airports and airlines. The Readers Choice Award’s hotel list also included the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, the Viceroy in Chicago and 1Hotel South Beach in Miami.
Condé Nast’s offered high praise in its description of the Pendry, saying, its “supremely comfortable guest rooms aren’t jig-sawed into a historic building. The Pendry’s probably one of the best places to stay in Baltimore right now — and if you’re coming for nightlife and dining, this is the perfect place to be.”
The 128-room Pendry, part of the Montage brand of hotels, opened in 2016 in what was once the decrepit Fells Point Recreation Pier. The landmark sat vacant for decades as redevelopment proposals came and went. Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank swooped in with a plan to turn it into an upscale hotel and New York chef Andrew Carmellini’s Rec Pier Chop House restaurant. It has since become a popular venue for weddings and events.
The swanky hotel also topped the Top 20 Hotels in New York State & the Mid-Atlantic.
But the Pendry wasn’t the only local spot to win over the magazine’s high-end readers. Other Baltimore hotels on the list include The Ivy Hotel (No. 4), The Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore (No. 12) and Kimpton Hotel Monaco Baltimore Inner Harbor (No. 17).
